Police appeal for information following burglaries in West Devon

The theft took place in farmyard outbuildings

Police in West Devon are urging the public to come forward with any information regarding a series of burglaries targeting farm outbuildings in the region.

The incidents, which occurred between Monday, February 19, and Tuesday, February 20, have left farmers grappling with significant losses of valuable equipment.

In one incident, which took place in the Princetown area, approximately 40 packs of silage wrap were stolen between 1pm on Monday and 2pm on Tuesday.

This theft has raised concerns among local farmers about the security of their properties and the vulnerability of their equipment.

A separate burglary was reported in Brentor on Tuesday, February 20, where thieves made off with two Yamaha 450 quad bikes and a Honda petrol pressure washer from an outbuilding.

Devon & Cornwall Police are calling on farm owners to review their security measures and take proactive steps to protect their properties.

This includes recording serial numbers of equipment and considering additional security measures such as locks and trackers, particularly for items like quad bikes, which are frequently targeted by thieves.

Residents are also urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 999.

Detailed descriptions of individuals or vehicles involved, as well as vehicle registrations, are crucial for the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information related to these burglaries or who may have CCTV footage in the vicinity is asked to contact Devon & Cornwall Police at 101, quoting the relevant reference numbers: 50240041819 for the Princetown incident and 50240042451 for the Brentor incident.

Alternatively, individuals can provide information through the Devon & Cornwall Police website.
