A Devon brewery based in Paignton has announced the release of Tracker Ale, a special brew dedicated to the Dartmoor Search and Rescue team.

Bays Brewery, a longstanding family-run establishment with a 17-year legacy in the local scene, has said they are proud to introduce this unique ale as a tribute to the selfless volunteers who serve their community.

"Being a family-run Devon brewery, we are always looking at how we can give something back to our community," said a spokesperson for Bays Brewery.

"Last year, we launched our 'charity brews' concept, raising a toast to four Devon charities and generating £3,370 in support. When the Ashburton Team of Dartmoor Search & Rescue approached us with the idea of collaborating on a charity beer, we jumped at the chance."

The inspiration behind Tracker Ale has stemmed from the Ashburton division's need to replace its oldest Land Rover, essential for responding to incidents in Torbay and beyond. With over 92% of its income reliant on public support, Dartmoor Search and Rescue relies on partnerships and donations to maintain its operations.

"Our Head Brewer and Director, Will Freeland, took on the challenge of creating Tracker Ale," the spokesperson explained.

"With his expertise and passion for Devon beer, he's crafted a smooth pale ale using a blend of UK and American hops, with tropical aromas as mysterious as the moorland landscape."

For every pint and bottle of Tracker Ale sold, Bays Brewery will donate 5% of the proceeds to the Ashburton division of Dartmoor Search and Rescue.

These funds will contribute to the acquisition of a new Land Rover, ensuring the team remains equipped to respond for future missions in Torbay, Dartmoor and East Devon.

The new vehicle will transport team members and their kit to and during incidents across South Devon and Torbay.

The brewery said: "With over 92% of its income reliant on public support, charity partnerships like this are a great way to encourage people to rally behind a charity that benefits the local community."

Tracker Ale is now available for purchase on Bays Brewery's online shop and at selected pubs, bars, and restaurants across Devon until mid April.
