A five-year-old child was airlifted to a hospital in Bristol following a serious incident at Becky Falls tourist attraction near Bovey Tracey.

The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) contacted the Ashburton Dartmoor Search and Rescue team at 12.24pm for assistance.

One of the team’s doctors, who was nearby, arrived at the scene quickly to provide immediate medical care.

Additional team members also arrived to support the paramedics already on site.

The child was then transferred to the hospital at Bristol by air ambulance for further treatment.

In total, 17 volunteers from the response team were involved in the operation.

The team was officially stood down at 13.20pm.

The social media post did not mention how the child was injured.
