This July, Princetown will once again become the epicentre of artistic expression as it hosts the second Princetown Arts Festival on July 20 and 21.

Following its successful debut last year, the festival returns with an even more ambitious lineup of events and performances spanning sculpture, photography, painting, literature, music, and more.

The festival will be held in various locations throughout the village.

Organisers are preparing to showcase a diverse range of talents from both local and regional artists.

Highlights of this year's program include performances by Steve Brooks paying tribute to Elvis, the voices of the Loveny Male Voice Choir, and the lively melodies of Moorland Mandolins.

The festival will also feature folk music, poetry readings, dance performances, and novelist readings, ensuring a weekend filled with cultural richness.

Nick Bernnett, chairman of the Community Steering Group, said: “Princetown Arts Festival is a testament to the outstanding artistic community of Dartmoor. It provides a platform for local artists to showcase their talents, offers visitors a vibrant and immersive cultural experience, and presents the opportunity to purchase wonderful artworks from artists across the media spectrum.”

Organisers have said that holding the festival as a free event makes it accessible to everyone.

However there are unavoidable administrative and promotional costs that organisers face.

To support the festival's growth and ensure its accessibility as a free community event, organisers have launched the Princetown Arts Festival Lottery.

This initiative allows patrons to contribute through donations while offering the chance to win cash prizes, fostering community engagement and support.

With a target of £1300, the festival has already raised more than £300.
