Trevi hosts “Secret Firefly Garden” to illuminate hope for survivors of violence

Attendees will have the option to purchase symbolic keepsake fireflies

Trevi, a Plymouth-based organisation dedicated to supporting women affected by trauma, violence, and abuse, has announced its upcoming event, “The Secret Firefly Garden: Shining Bright, A Night of Hope,” scheduled for Thursday, November 28th at Plymouth’s Elizabeth Gardens. The event is part of the global "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" campaign, which seeks to raise awareness and challenge violence against women and girls worldwide.

The highlight of the evening will be a dazzling display of firefly lights, each symbolising the resilience and strength of women who have overcome significant adversity. The garden will come alive as these lights form a collective tribute to solidarity and healing, representing the power of community support for those impacted by trauma.

In addition to the moving visual display, attendees will have the option to purchase symbolic keepsake fireflies. Proceeds from each firefly purchase will go directly to Trevi’s Sunflower Women’s Centre, which offers life-changing support programmes that empower women on their journeys to independence and recovery.

Trevi CEO Hannah Shead expressed her hopes for the gathering, stating: “We invite our community to join us in shining a light on the challenges faced by so many women in the city and beyond. The Secret Firefly Garden is more than just an evening event—it’s an opportunity to come together in solidarity, to support those on journeys of healing, and to contribute to meaningful change through our Sunflower Women’s Centre.”

The event is free, but space is limited, and advance booking is recommended. To reserve a spot or purchase a keepsake firefly in support of Trevi’s mission, visit The Secret Firefly Garden – Trevi. Join Trevi on November 28th to help illuminate a path of hope and unity for survivors within the Plymouth community.
