The Met Office has issued an Amber warning for Saturday 7 December due to potentially damaging winds associated with Storm Darragh.

The warning starts from 3am to 9pm.

The weather service has warned of a good chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to disrupt other services such as mobile phone coverage.

There is also the possibility of damage to buildings, including tiles being blown from roofs.

In addition to this, the Met Office warns of likely longer journey times and cancellations, as road, rail, air, and ferry services may all be affected.

Flying debris is also a major concern, with the risk of injuries or danger to life.

Warning say that some roads and bridges could close due to the weather, with falling trees presenting an additional hazard.

Coastal areas are particularly at risk, with large waves and debris potentially being thrown onto roads, sea fronts, and properties, creating a risk of injury and danger to life.

The amber warning covers the entirety of Devon and Cornwall.

There is also a yellow warning in place for Devon on Friday 6 December and Sunday 8 December, both for wind.

Residents are advised to take extra precautions during these times.
