West Devon Council has announced that nominations for the 2025 West Devon Mayoral Awards are now open.
The awards celebrate individuals and organisations making valuable contributions to the community.
Nominations are open to everyone, whether nominating an individual or an organisation.
Winners will receive their awards at a ceremony on 25 March at the Council’s offices in Kilworthy Park, Tavistock.
Now in their 27th year, the awards feature several categories, including:
The West Devon Mayoral Award for Under 18s – Recognising a noteworthy achievement by a young person under 18 living in West Devon.
The West Devon Mayoral Award for Over 18s – Honouring an adult in West Devon who has made a significant impact or enhanced the borough’s reputation nationally.
The West Devon Mayoral Award for an Organisation – Celebrating an organisation that has made a positive contribution or brought national recognition to West Devon.
The Mayor’s Green Award – Recognising individuals or groups for their significant contributions to conservation and protecting the natural environment in West Devon.
The Mayor’s Award for Long Service – Acknowledging individuals or groups who have demonstrated long-term dedication to a community group, volunteering, or independent work improving lives in West Devon.
Judges for the awards include the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Council Leader, and Leader of the Opposition.
Nominations close on Friday, 14 February.
Cllr Debo Sellis, West Devon Mayor, said: “The awards have been running for 27 years now, and are our way of shining a deserving light on the people, groups and organisations who work to significantly benefit our communities through their selfless actions.
“We’re always excited to hear about these stories, so please send in your nominations today and help us to honour those people in West Devon who may be our unsung heroes.”
