The Hatherleigh Players will be performing this half term
A theatre group that has been entertaining audiences since the 1980s is set to bring panto magic back to Dartmoor this February half term.
Hatherleigh Players will perform Robin Hood & The Witches of Sherwood from 20-22 February at Hatherleigh Community Centre.
The team has been working hard since mid-November under the direction of Mrs Cindy-Jane Squire, with Hatherleigh Community Centre set to be transformed into Sherwood Forest by an impressive production team led by Garry Bater and Steve Brock.
This year, Ruth Penberthy has taken on the role of musical director, supported by a talented team. Costumes have been sourced, created, and sewn by Cindy, Mandy, and Jane.
The group has a long history, with its chairman, Alan Jones, first taking to the stage in 1982 and continuing to perform ever since.
Alan, who is playing Prince John in this year’s production, was also involved in the last performance of Robin Hood 20 years ago, where he played the Sheriff of Nottingham.
The cast includes a strong mix of experienced members and up-and-coming young talent.
Donna Lewis, who is involved with the players, told The Moorlander: “We have a good bunch of young players involved, some that have taken on main roles.”
With so many dedicated individuals working behind the scenes, the production promises to be a fun-filled treat for audiences of all ages.
