Two participants at the South West Fly Fair
The South West Fly Fair is set to return to Roadford Lake on Sunday 23 February, offering a day of family-friendly activities and expert fly-fishing demonstrations.
Hosted by the South West Lakes Trust, the event takes place at Roadford Lake, located just five minutes off the A30 between Launceston and Okehampton.
A highlight of the region’s fly-fishing calendar, the fair promises a fun and informative day out for all ages.
Thanks to sponsorship from Turrall, Chevron Hackles, and Snowbee, the event will feature a variety of attractions.
Visitors can enjoy fly tying and casting demonstrations, ‘have a go’ fly tying rooms, a live trout cooking demonstration, and opportunities to learn more about local angling coaching and tuition.
There will also be a chance to chat with trout, sea, and coarse fly fishers.
A range of trade stands will offer new and used tackle and equipment, while food and drink will be available at the onsite café.
The event runs from 10am to 3pm, with activities designed for the whole family. Leon Fisher, South West Lakes Trust’s new Head of Fisheries, said: “I’m excited to welcome both familiar and new faces to Roadford Lake for this year’s Fly Fair. We have some fantastic attendees with world-class knowledge of the sport, so whether you're an experienced angler or a beginner, there’s something for everyone!”
Advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
Entry is £7 for adults (£10 on the door), and free for under-18s.
The price includes car parking and a raffle ticket.
Tickets are available at https://www.swlakestrust.org.uk/south-west-fly-fair-2025
