Chagford firefighters go Benidorm or Bust!

An epic effort to raise money for the Firefighters Charity

Chagford firefighters go Benidorm or Bust!

In just over one month's time, the firefighters from Chagford fire station will embark on an epic fundraising effort - to cycle to 1,100 miles from Chagford to Levante beach in Benidorm in four days, in full fire kit, to raise money for the Firefighters charity.

 Station Manager Mark Shears said: “We will cycle to Plymouth and take the ferry to Santander. Then when we get to Spain, we'll cycle to Levante beach day and night in relay so we get there in 48 hours.”

The full team undertaking this huge effort is - Mark Shears – Rider; Frank Davies – Support Vehicle; Tom Mole- Rider; Finbar Shears – Rider; Rex McGlynn – Rider; Mickey Shears – Rider;

Greg Gosden – Support Vehicle.

 Mark continued: “The Firefighters charity is there for when we need help with physical rehab, mental health support and many other lines of help. They are there to help us so we can help you and without raising funds of the charity this wouldn’t be possible.”

With no expert coaching and no expensive bikes, the team are committed to pushing their

limits in full fire kit, facing challenging terrain and hot weather conditions along the way. They have already covered the ferry crossing distance of 476 miles on their indoor bike and are now cramming in the final practices before the big day.
