Burrator Reservoir near Yelverton
Burrator Reservoir has not been impacted by a burst water main which left thousands of homes across North Plymouth, Tavistock and parts of West Devon without water earlier this week.
The incident occurred on Monday 21 April at Dousland water treatment works.
South West Water confirmed to The Moorlander that, despite early concerns from residents, Burrator Reservoir itself was not affected.
On Monday morning (April 21), the company said customers in the postcode areas of PL6, PL19 and PL20 may have experienced a loss of supply or lower water pressure than usual.
Around 13,000 properties were potentially impacted.
The burst happened at the treatment works which processes water from Burrator.
As a precaution, water was temporarily not drawn from the reservoir while repairs were carried out.
A spokesperson for South West Water said: “The burst occurred at Dousland water treatment works, which treats water from Burrator Reservoir. When the burst occurred, we stopped taking water from Burrator until the burst was repaired so it was not affected.
“The reservoir is currently at 98% and so in a very healthy position.”
Some residents had raised concerns with The Moorlander about potential wider implications of the burst, including the possibility of a hosepipe ban.
However, South West Water has reassured customers that there are no issues with current supply levels.
