Devon Mind joins Plymouth Science Park in boost to regional mental health support

Devon Mind team

One of Devon’s leading mental health charities, Devon Mind, has joined the thriving community at Plymouth Science Park, marking a major step in its mission to expand support across the county.

For over 40 years, Devon Mind has empowered individuals experiencing mental health challenges. As an independent charity affiliated with national Mind, the organisation delivers a comprehensive range of services including counselling, one-to-one emotional support, wellbeing activities, courses, workshops, and monthly support groups.

Devon Mind also provides accredited and bespoke mental health training for local businesses and is a strong advocate for greater awareness and understanding of mental health issues throughout Devon.

The move to Plymouth Science Park represents a strategic milestone, opening up new opportunities for collaboration and innovation with other socially-conscious and health-focused organisations based in the region’s leading hub for science, technology, digital, and health sectors.

Dave Hockton, CEO of Plymouth Science Park, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Devon Mind to the Park. Their work is vital to the health and wellbeing of our region, and their presence adds a hugely important dimension to our community of businesses. We look forward to supporting their continued mission and impact from their new base in North Plymouth.”

Olivia Craig, Chief Executive Officer of Devon Mind, added: “We are really excited for this next chapter in Devon Mind’s evolution. The mission is to ensure that Devon is a place where people can enjoy good mental health and have the opportunity to reach their potential. We want to deliver this support in a trauma-informed way, by adopting an approach where we endeavour to meet people in their communities, where people feel comfortable and have greater opportunities to develop connections that are sustained.”

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week (12–18 May), Devon Mind ran a series of pop-up events at various locations across the Science Park. These activities aimed to raise awareness and promote the importance of community connection, which is this year’s campaign theme.

Plymouth Science Park is home to more than 100 innovative businesses, offering flexible workspaces and a collaborative environment designed to foster growth and impact. The Park continues to attract forward-thinking organisations eager to scale and make a difference in health, technology, and beyond.
