West Devon Borough Council is proud to announce the launch of two new community grant schemes aimed at supporting the heart of its towns and villages - local community groups and facilities.
The Community Halls Capital Grant Fund and the Community Arts and Activities Fund are now open for applications. These initiatives underscore the Council’s ongoing commitment to help community spaces and creative groups across the borough flourish and thrive.
The Community Halls Capital Grant Fund is designed for projects involving one-off costs, permanent items, refurbishments, or structural improvements. Whether it's a new roof, an upgraded kitchen, replacement chairs, or smaller essential equipment, this scheme offers grants ranging from £500 up to £25,000.
The Community Arts and Activities Fund supports both existing arts initiatives and new projects from established groups. This fund is particularly suited for boosting creative and social activities that enhance community life, with grants available from £500 to £3,000.
Cllr Jane Elliott, West Devon Borough Council’s Lead Member for Community Wellbeing, encouraged eligible groups to apply.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for local community groups to get the financial support needed to maintain and improve vital local facilities and activities,” she said.
“I’d encourage those interested in applying to take their time reading the eligibility and guidance carefully for what can be funded as they’re quite different pots of money.”
To help potential applicants understand the process and requirements, West Devon Borough Council will host an informational webinar on Tuesday, 3 June at 7:30 p.m.. Attendees can register online at: https://forms.office.com/e/SdEtpqbyDW
Applications for the first round of funding close at midnight on Friday, 22 August 2025.
