New betting odds from talkSPORT BET have been released on who could become the next permanent head coach of Plymouth Argyle, with former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere listed among the leading candidates.

Wilshere is the favourite with odds of 1/2, according to the latest data. He is followed by David Wagner and Ian Evatt, both at 4/1.

Other contenders include Adin Osmanbasic and Des Buckingham at 6/1, Jim Goodwin at 8/1, and Wayne Rooney at 25/1.

Wilshere joined Norwich City’s coaching staff in October 2024 after previously serving as head coach of Arsenal’s Under-18 team.

At the end of May, Norwich announced Wilshere had left his role as first-team coach by mutual agreement.

Following the departures of Norwich head coaches Johannes Hoff Thorup and Glen Riddersholm, Wilshere took charge as interim head coach for the club’s final two games of the Sky Bet Championship season.

Plymouth Argyle are currently searching for a permanent head coach, with several names appearing in betting markets.

The club’s chairman, Simon Hallett, has expressed disappointment over the departure of former head coach Miron Muslic. In a statement released on 31 May, Hallett said he had personally spoken with Muslic, who assured him of his full commitment to the club.

“He continued to take part in all recruitment meetings and was involved with interviewing and recruiting players until just last week,” Hallett said. “His colleagues had no indication that he wanted to leave.”

Hallett added that Muslic informed the club on Saturday of his intention to speak with German side Schalke 04. “Under his contract, a club wishing to speak with him needs Argyle’s prior permission. We were unwilling to give such permission, but Miron informed us that under no circumstances was he going to return to Plymouth. Thus, we reluctantly gave the necessary permission.”

Muslic’s sudden departure has left Plymouth Argyle searching for a new permanent head coach, with betting markets reflecting uncertainty about who will take the role next.
