Thunderstorms have been issued for Devon
The Met Office has extended its yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across Devon and the wider South West, as heavy rain and unsettled conditions continue to affect the region.
A yellow warning had initially been in place until 1pm today (Thursday 12 June), but forecasters updated their guidance shortly after 10.45am, extending the warning until 7pm this evening.
Rainfall remains persistent across much of Devon, with the risk of thunder still present.
Forecasters say an area of heavy rain is moving northwards, bringing the potential for travel disruption in some areas. The Met Office has also issued a fresh yellow warning for Friday 13 June, from 6pm to 11.59pm, and another for Saturday 14 June, lasting from 12am until 6pm.
The Met Office says you can expect spray and sudden flooding, which could lead to difficult driving conditions and potential road closures.
They also say that there is a small chance that some communities in Devon may become temporarily cut off by flooded roads.
Delays to train and bus services are possible, and lightning strikes could cause short-term power outages.
Residents are advised to check the latest updates and take extra care when travelling.
