A major employer has opened its doors in Tavistock, bringing around 30 new jobs to the town centre.
Granito Lounge, part of the West Country-based Loungers café/bar group, opened on Wednesday 4 June in the former M&Co unit on Brook Street.
Granito Lounge is the 255th Lounge in the group.
The move has brought new life to the former M&Co unit on Brook Street, which closed following the national retailer’s collapse in 2023.
The opening has provided employment opportunities for local people across a range of roles, from kitchen staff to front-of-house.
John English, Head of Community at Loungers, said: “We’re so excited to open the doors to Granito Lounge. Our Lounges strive to put community at the heart of hospitality and our teams always go the extra mile to make a difference. They are actively encouraged to connect with their communities by working with local groups, charities, organisations, and businesses that are at the heart of the fabric of local life. We are very much looking forward to welcoming local residents to Granito Lounge.”
Granito Lounge is now open seven days a week.
The interior has been fully refitted with a mix of bold wallpaper, vintage sofas, eclectic artwork and statement lighting.
The café-bar serves an all-day menu, with options for vegans, gluten-free customers and families, including a dedicated Little Loungers menu, games and baby-changing facilities.
