Totnes will transform into a vibrant hub of creativity this summer as the Totnes Fringe Festival returns for a bold weekend of live performance, community celebration, and artistic experimentation from 11 to 13 July 2025.
Spanning over 50 performances, the festival promises an eclectic mix of theatre, comedy, dance, puppetry, poetry, and family shows staged across both well-loved venues and surprising pop-up spaces around the town.
Among this year’s standout acts is The Raven, a hauntingly atmospheric reimagining of Edgar Allan Poe’s gothic poem, blending physical theatre, live video, and poetry. For younger audiences, Dino-Saw offers a joyful puppet adventure tailored for children under eight, while Leechwell Gardens will host a weekend of free, family-friendly entertainment, complete with music, storytelling, and magical surprises.
Other highlights include:
Big Poetic Hunt – a surreal spoken-word safari for adults.
CAT: The Play – a dark comedy with international acclaim.
Welcome to Gaza – a poignant, 90-minute theatrical piece created in collaboration with children in Palestine and directed by award-winning playwright Peter Oswald.
“If you're in Totnes that weekend, you're likely to stumble into something surprising, moving, or joyful,” say festival organisers.
The Totnes Fringe embraces accessibility, with events ranging from free and pay-what-you-feel performances to affordable ticketed shows. It’s a festival deeply rooted in local talent and designed to reflect the unique spirit of the town.
Organised by a passionate team of local theatre-makers and creatives, the Fringe is more than just a festival, it's a celebration of how live performance can connect, inspire, and energise a community.
The festival is made possible with the generous support of Ben’s Farm Shops, alongside contributions from other local sponsors and supporters.
