Artist Brendon Murless, from Bridport in Dorset
A stunning transformation is underway at RHS Garden Rosemoor in Torrington, where more than 100 sculptures are being installed across the gardens in preparation for the Winter Sculpture Exhibition, opening 15 November and running until 31 January.
The annual exhibition will see artworks made from an array of materials – including ceramics, stone, slate, steel, bronze, wood, wire, resin, glass and even recycled tools – displayed both indoors and outdoors. Each piece, created by artists from across the UK, will be carefully positioned to complement Rosemoor’s winter landscape.
To mark the start of the exhibition, a special opening weekend will take place on 15–16 November, offering visitors the chance to meet the artists in person, learn about their creative process, and purchase their work directly. Exhibiting artists include Lucy d’Auvergne, Candice Bees, Oliver Bramstone, Luke Edgar, Bea Green, John Hadfield, Sarah Harvey, Angelique Medland, Elliot Parry, Steve Parsons and Mike Thompson.
Visitors can also take part in a free clay sculpture-making workshop on Saturday 15 November, or enjoy live performances from five of Marvellous Eventures’ Living Statues in the gardens from 11am to 3pm on Sunday 16 November.
The exhibition will remain in place through the winter, with many sculptures forming part of the garden’s popular RHS Glow illuminated trail, which runs on selected evenings between 21 November and 30 December. Advance booking is recommended, as tickets for the event sell out quickly each year.
To encourage more visitors this season, Rosemoor has introduced special seasonal prices for daytime admission, with discounts available for those who book online in advance. The garden is also continuing its dog-friendly trial days every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until 18 March 2026, giving visitors the chance to combine art, nature, and a winter walk with their four-legged companions.
Nestled in the heart of North Devon’s Torridge Valley, RHS Garden Rosemoor spans 65 acres and is renowned for its rich horticultural displays, themed ‘garden rooms’, heritage orchards, and seasonal planting schemes. The site also features a large Garden Centre, Gift Shop, and Restaurant serving fresh, seasonal produce grown on site.
