Families are being invited to get up close to newborn lambs at Bovey Castle, where the animals have arrived on the estate for the first time.
The lambs, born on Dartmoor on 30 March, are now part of a hands-on spring experience allowing visitors to feed them in scheduled sessions running daily until 19 April.
A total of four lambs are taking part, including three Highlander ewes and a Suffolk and Highlander cross. Visitors attending the sessions will have the chance to bottle feed the animals during 30-minute experiences held at the hotel’s workshop.
The initiative reflects the long-standing connection between Dartmoor and farming traditions, where lambing season marks a key point in the rural calendar each spring. Sheep farming has shaped the landscape and economy of the moor for centuries, with hardy breeds adapted to its often harsh conditions.
Dean Gunston, General Manager at Bovey Castle, said: “This is a baa-rilliant opportunity for youngsters to learn about lambing season, discover the rhythms of countryside life, and get up close to these adorable animals.
“Youngsters and adults will also get to bottle feed the lambs as part of the experience, creating special spring memories for families.”
Bovey Castle, a historic country estate set within Dartmoor National Park, regularly hosts seasonal activities aimed at connecting visitors with the surrounding countryside.
Further details about the lamb feeding sessions, including pricing and availability, can be found via the hotel.
