Eversfield Organic’s alpine dining and joyful food sharing at The Farm Kitchen

Eversfield Organic, one of the UK's leading organic grocery stores, is thrilled to announce the opening of The Farm Kitchen at its Totnes Farm Shop, Deli, and Cafe. The new restaurant offers an immersive dining experience, focusing on sharing the joy of eating great food with companions.

Located above the farm shop and cafe at its premises on The Plains, Totnes (TQ9 5DR), The Farm Kitchen is a restaurant that brings communal feasting to South Devon with carefully curated sharing boards, steaks, and fondue as the highlights of its menu inspired by traditional Swiss Alpine offerings and produce from its nearby organic farm.

With Eversfield Organic’s mantra of ‘enjoy food, enjoy life,’ this is a dining experience that does just that, bringing people together who love good food and great conversations. It’s a place to embrace the colder months with a gathering of friends and refuel with delicious, satisfying food.

Grass fed beef that’s succulent and full of flavour will be cooked to perfection by the guest on a hot stone; and there are bountiful grazing boards - meat, cheese and charcuterie and veg boards - that are packed with seasonal and organic veggies, with marinades to be poured on. If guests choose a fondue, a cauldron of melted cheese will be kept warm for dipping various offerings, swirling them into the cheese to create food that’s utterly delicious.

Mark Bury, Managing Director of Eversfield Organic, expressed his excitement about the new venture, saying: "Tucking into sharing plates that are as beautiful as they are tasty, cooking our organic beef on hot stones, and sharing mouth-watering fondue is a wonderful way to truly appreciate incredible food that is full of the flavours and tastes of the West Country. The boards are simply stunning, works of art that make you really appreciate the food laid before you."

He further emphasised the philosophy behind The Farm Kitchen: "It's about slowing down, cooking, dipping, savouring, and relishing beautiful food that's been consciously reared and grown."

The compact menus at The Farm Kitchen feature steak and fondue for two, complemented by sharing boards of salads, sides, and desserts that reflect the changing seasons, with organic wines available to complement the food. These wines are made from organically grown grapes with minimal or reduced amounts of added sulphites.

Eversfield Organic was founded in 2004 by Mark Bury, starting as a local organic grocery service. It has since grown to offer nationwide deliveries. Mark wanted to bring back the rich biodiversity of the Devon landscape he farmed, to provide his family with slow grown, nutrient rich food. The business has gone from rearing Aberdeen Angus cattle and providing local meat boxes to one of the largest and most successful organic food companies in the South West.

Their website explains how the company works to support the natural environment: ‘We use the term ‘closed loop sustainability’ to refer to our process of recycling, reusing and therefore reducing waste.

The process begins right here on our family farm. Imagine you're in our Market Garden, helping chief gardener Kelvin pick some fresh seasonal produce. These goodies are plucked from our organic soil daily and sent on one of our vans to one of our local farm shops, organic inns, or delivered directly to your doorstep.

Our farm shops and inns will then sell this produce or utilise it in delicious dishes. The items they don't sell are then delivered to our Home Farm Kitchen via our vans where they are transformed into a range of organic delicacies before being sent back to the aforementioned locations.

All produce is quality checked at every step and everything that is unusable or not sold will make the short trip back to our farm. This is where it completes its closed loop journey, joining Kelvin's compost heap and eventually ending up as soil for our Market Garden.

Using our waste as compost ensures nothing from outside the farm aids its productivity. This is a key cog in our closed loop system and also helps nurture the tastiest produce you're likely to find. It's a win-win!’

Alongside its online presence, Eversfield Organic operates various farm shops, organic inns, and cafes, including the Dartmoor Inn at Merrivale where customers can see their steaks being cooked on an open fire in front of them.  Notably, the company runs the butcher's and fishmongers in Selfridges Food Hall, London.
