The car overturned and ended up on its side.

Firefighters, police and ambulance crews attended the scene.

One woman was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be freed by the fire service. She was taken to Derriford Hospital to be checked over.

No lanes on the bridge itself were closed. The vehicle has since been recovered.

At 12.44pm, the AA traffic website reported long delays and two lanes closed on the A38 eastbound, with congestion back to Carkeel Roundabout.
