Dartmoor National Park Authority is reminding visitors not to light campfires or use disposable barbecues as the fire risk rises during a spell of hot, dry weather.

The message comes as temperatures in Devon climb into the high 20s, with warm and dry conditions expected to continue into the weekend.

A spokesperson for the park said: “We are continually monitoring the fire risk on Dartmoor. Given the prolonged period of hot and dry weather, we’re reminding people to please leave BBQs at home and not to light campfires on Dartmoor.”

The park authority continues to monitor the situation closely and is encouraging people to enjoy Dartmoor responsibly while helping to protect the moor’s wildlife and habitats during the summer heat.
