Jamie on the Media Team at Tavistock AFC [Dave Crawford]

Hi, my name is Jamie Townsend, and I am the newest Trainee Reporter for The Moorlander.

A lifelong Tavistock local, I studied at Plymouth Marjon University after completing college and sixth form in the area, graduating with a degree in journalism.

During my time at university, I began a work experience module that brought me even closer to my community, working part-time with the media team at AFC Tavistock.

This role introduced me to the vibrant world of local non-league football, offering not only invaluable experience towards my degree - through social media, interviews, photography, and more- but also a true sense of togetherness.

I met people in my local area I might never have known otherwise.

This placement cemented my love for where I live and strengthened my desire to continue my journey into journalism by working in local news.

So, when the role of reporter at The Moorlander became available, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to start my career in the media industry - reporting on my local patch while learning from industry experts here at Clear Sky Publishing.

I will be loud and proud about the successes on Dartmoor, and I encourage you to send me any stories you believe are worth telling.

After all, that’s why we journalists are so passionate about what we do- we love telling people’s stories!

If you have any stories you’d like to share with me, please email me at jamie.townsend@clearskypublishing.co.uk
