Tavistock Heritage Week Giant Flapjack Credit: Flapjackery
Two giant flapjacks will take centre stage during Tavistock Heritage Week next month as local business Flapjackery joins the celebrations with creations 12 times the size of a standard flapjack.
Tavistock Heritage Week runs from September 12 to 21, as part of the national Heritage Open Days festival, England’s largest free celebration of history and culture.

Events from Heritage Open Days offer free access to historical sites and cultural venues that are usually closed to the public or charge an entrance fee.
In Tavistock, the week will include guided walks, rare building tours, workshops and an exhibition of topographical art.
The business has created two large versions of its Millionaire’s flapjack, each made up of the equivalent of 12 standard pieces.
One will be displayed in the shop window and the other in the Guildhall.
The flapjacks include a piped chocolate design featuring bees, honeycomb and dotted lines, reflecting this year’s national Heritage Open Days theme of “Architecture – Buildings, Bridges and Beehives.”
Special honey flapjacks are also being produced during the event, and children who join the town’s guided tours will be given mini samples.
At the end of the week, the large flapjacks will be donated to a community group.
Members of the public can nominate groups by visiting the Flapjackery shop.
Flapjackery co-founder, Carol Myott, shared her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are delighted to be a part of Tavistock Heritage Week. It is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our town's history and culture. We hope our giant flapjack and special honey creations encourage everyone to explore the vibrant town and all the wonderful events taking place.”
