One of the stallholders at Bovey Tracey’s new Makers Gift Market showcasing handmade creations
Bovey Tracey is set to enjoy a regular dose of local creativity as the Makers Gift Market becomes a twice-monthly fixture at the Riverside Community Centre.
Organiser Bradley Oliver, who lives in Chudleigh Knighton but spends much of his time in Bovey Tracey, set up the market after struggling to find a suitable venue to showcase his laser-cut designs.
With the support of Helen at the Riverside, he launched the Makers Gift Market, which has quickly grown into a lively meeting place for makers and shoppers alike.

“I’m pleased to confirm that we will continue to run the Makers Gift Market twice a month moving forward,” said Bradley.
The next market takes place on Saturday 13 September from 10am to 1pm, followed by a Charity Dog Show on Saturday 27 September to raise money for Gables.
October will see markets on the 11 and 25, while November brings two festive specials on the 15 and 22.
Looking further ahead, dates have already been secured for 2026, with the market set to run on the first and third Saturday of each month between March and November.
The timings are planned to coincide with Bovey’s established produce market, creating a bustling atmosphere in the town.
Visitors can expect a wide variety of handmade items, from woodwork, ceramics and glass to textiles, jewellery, photography, illustrations and leather craft.
There is also a strong focus on sustainability, with many stallholders adopting eco-friendly practices and some recognised with the Green Makers Button.
Makers of candles, soaps and natural skincare products further add to the mix.
Bradley said the event offers more than just shopping: “We offer a great atmosphere and something for everyone. We are fortunate to share the building with the library, which hosts children’s activities such as craft making and Lego club while we are open. We also have a space outside for local groups, clubs and charities to use for fundraising or raising awareness.”
The market has already built strong ties with the community, and Bradley says that support is what makes Bovey Tracey special.
“It’s an amazing community,” he added.
“Like my fellow stallholders, I’m committed to caring for the planet and supporting our community in everything I do.”
