Live blog: updates as the incident develops

14:30pm - One lane closed due to accident, lorry and a trailer involved and spillage on The A30 Eastbound from the Broadwoodwidger turn off (Stowford Cross, Launceston) to the A386 (Okehampton). Congestion to the main road through Bridestowe as traffic seeks an alternative. Traffic is coping well.

12.30pm - One lane is now open between the A388 at Launceston and A386 at Sourton. One lane remains closed due to collision and barrier damage. Police and Ambulance have attended, and there are 2 miles of congestion on approach.

The A30 is currently closed in both directions near Okehampton following an incident involving a 4x4 with a trailer and a milk tanker.

The incident occurred earlier this morning (September 17) on the westbound carriageway at Lifton Down, and Devon and Cornwall Police are leading the response.

National Highways told The Moorlander: "The incident involved a 4x4 and trailer and a milk tanker on the westbound A30 at Lifton Down, around 10.25am. The eastbound is fully closed and there’s a lane 2 westbound closure in place to enable vehicle recovery. A clearly signed eastbound diversion is in place and the closures will be lifted as soon as vehicles are recovered, and as soon as it’s safe to reopen."

Devon and Cornwall Police added: "We received reports of a collision between two vehicles on the eastbound carriageway A30 at Sourton, near Okehampton, at around 9.55am. The A30 is currently closed in both directions due to debris in the road and motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police and paramedics are at the scene. The extent of any injuries is currently unknown and the incident is ongoing."

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and plan alternative routes.

Updates will be provided by The Moorlander as more information becomes available.
