A woman in her 80s has been reported to court after driving the wrong way along the westbound carriageway of the A30 in Okehampton on Tuesday evening (23 September). 

Police were called in Okehampton after several reports of a car travelling the wrong way along the westbound carriageway of the A30.

Officers, supported by the National Police Air Service helicopter, attended the scene. 

The vehicle eventually turned around and left the A30 at Whitehouse Services, before being stopped by police on Exeter Road, Okehampton, at around 6:20pm.

The driver has been reported to court for dangerous driving and for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

Residents took to social media to describe the incident. 

One person said they had just come off at Okehampton Services and noticed a car travelling the wrong way along the A30. 

Another reported seeing a vehicle in the wrong direction between Okehampton and Whiddon Down.
