Traffic is being disrupted on the A38 in Devon following a collision that police have described as “serious” near Plympton.

Officers said they were called to reports of the incident on the westbound carriageway at around 3pm today, Thursday 9 October. Emergency services are at the scene.

Police confirmed that injuries have been reported but these are not thought to be life changing or life threatening.

Local road closures have been put in place.

The extent of any injuries is currently unclear. Local road closures have been put in place while authorities deal with the incident.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area where possible, with delays expected. The situation is ongoing, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.

4.30pm - Traffic is very heavy in the area. National Highways confirms on their website that there is long delays of 45 minutes. Diversions are in place.
