Traditional textile crafts will take centre stage later this month as the Peter Tavy Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers holds its biennial exhibition at Mary Tavy Coronation Hall.

The exhibition, running from Thursday, 31 October to Saturday, 2 November 2025, will feature demonstrations of weaving, spinning, braiding and felting, along with displays of members’ work produced over the past two years.

Visitors will also be able to see examples of dyeing, tablet weaving, art yarns, tassel-making and felted flowers, as well as a range of individual projects completed by members, and selected items will be available for sale.

Guild members will be demonstrating throughout the event, and visitors will have the chance to try weaving or spinning under supervision.

Susie Pitt, speaking on behalf of the group, said: “As a guild we aim to keep traditional crafts alive, sharing and expanding our skills. We use local fleece wherever possible, which adds value and helps us stay environmentally responsible.”

The guild, which meets monthly at the same venue, runs in-house workshops and welcomes visiting tutors to help members develop their skills.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm daily, with free entry.

Tea, coffee and homemade cakes will be available, and there is ample parking at the hall.
