Tavistock’s annual Halloween celebrations return to the town centre this evening (29 October), with a family-friendly parade and a series of themed activities taking place throughout the afternoon.

The event, organised by Visit Tavistock, will see crowds gather in Bedford Square for an afternoon of workshops, performances, and fancy dress fun, before the Halloween Parade begins at 4.30pm.

Visitors and residents are invited to either take part in the parade or watch from along the route as participants, dressed as ghosts, ghouls and other Halloween characters, make their way through the heart of the town.

Ahead of the parade, a range of activities have been taking place in the square from 12pm, including circus skills workshops, Halloween-themed face painting, zombie walk and dance sessions, giving participants the chance to “perfect their undead moves” before joining the procession.

Freestyle football champion Sam Cunningham is also performing during the day, entertaining crowds with a series of demonstrations and trick displays.

The Halloween Parade will begin and end at Bedford Square, with spectators encouraged to line the streets to cheer on participants.

Organisers have described the event as a safe and family-friendly celebration, welcoming children, parents, and visitors to get involved and enjoy the seasonal festivities.

Workshops and performances run from midday, with the main parade scheduled to set off at 4.30pm.
