The Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police, James Vaughan QPM, will snorkel with sharks at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth on 29 November to raise money for Luna’s Fund.
The event is being held as part of the Chief Constable’s charity of the year.
Luna’s Fund was created in 2018 by Aimee and Craig Green after the loss of their daughter, Luna, and supports parents in Devon and Cornwall who experience baby loss before, during or after birth.

The charity provides practical help and emotional support at a time when many families feel overwhelmed, with support available as soon as parents leave the hospital.
Aimee Green, who now leads the charity, will take part in the snorkel alongside Chief Constable Vaughan.
The date is significant for the family, as it falls on what would have been Luna’s eighth birthday.
Aimee said she was grateful that officers and staff from across the force chose Luna’s Fund as the Chief Constable’s charity for 2025.
She said the charity hopes to expand its services into Exeter and the surrounding area next year, and also reflected on how far she has come since Luna’s death, saying that marking her daughter’s birthday in this way felt “surreal and incredibly meaningful.”
Chief Constable Vaughan said he was “a little nervous” about getting into the tank but did not hesitate when invited to join the fundraiser.

He said Luna’s Fund gives “valuable support and resources to bereaved parents” throughout Devon and Cornwall and that the police force is pleased to help raise awareness of the charity’s work.
Luna’s Fund offers a range of support; including help to redecorate a baby’s nursery if parents feel unable to keep the room the same, short breaks to support recovery after labour and trauma, and food deliveries for families who are not ready to return to everyday routines.
The charity also provides free private antenatal scans for parents who become pregnant again after a previous loss, giving reassurance alongside NHS care.
The Chief Constable’s Foundation raises money internally for charities and community projects linked to policing and wellbeing.
Previous causes supported include Pete’s Dragons and Devon and Cornwall Food Action.
Donations to the shark-snorkelling fundraiser can be made through the Chief Constable’s official fundraising page.
