A small building fire in Princetown was tackled by firefighters on Thursday (27 November) evening after a blaze broke out inside a public toilet.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was called to the incident at 8.38pm on 27 November in the Dartmoor Forest area. Fire crews from Princetown and Yelverton attended.

On arrival, firefighters confirmed that a fire had started inside one of the toilets within the public convenience.

The flames were contained to that single cubicle and did not spread to the rest of the building.

Crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera, and a smoke clearance fan to put out the fire and make the area safe.

The incident was brought under control shortly afterwards, and according to the fire service, the fire was started deliberately.

No injuries were reported, and the building was left ventilated and secured.

The incident was declared closed at 9.46pm, and Police may be informed due to the deliberate nature of the fire.
