West Devon job seekers and employers will meet under one roof in Okehampton next month as a local event seeks to help ‘match up’ those looking for work with hiring companies.
The West Devon Employment Fair will take place on Wednesday 5 February, from 12 noon to 3pm, at Charter Hall, Okehampton.

It is being organised by Business Information Point (BIP) and is fully funded by West Devon Borough Council, with support from Devon County Council.
The fair is designed to help connect people looking for work with local businesses that are recruiting.
Employers from a range of sectors are expected to attend, offering visitors the chance to explore different roles and career paths.
A spokesperson for Business Information Point said: “We’re pleased to be running the West Devon Employment Fair again this year, helping match local job seekers and employers.”
The event is open to anyone interested in work opportunities, including school and college leavers, people who are currently unemployed, those already in work but looking for a new role, and individuals interested in self-employment.
Job seekers will be able to speak directly with employers, ask questions about vacancies, and find out more about training and development options.
Organisers say employment fairs allow job seekers to meet several employers in one place, making it easier to compare opportunities and learn more about local businesses.
Visitors will also be able to talk to advisers about different routes into work and self-employment.

For employers, exhibiting at the event is free, as the fair is fully funded, however, spaces are limited.
Businesses taking part will be able to meet potential candidates face-to-face, discuss roles directly, and build links with other local organisations.
A BIP spokesperson said: “Finding the right people to join your business can be a challenge. Employment fairs can be a very cost-effective way to meet a number of potential candidates in one place. As this is a funded event, there’s no cost for taking a stand, though spaces are limited.”
They added that the fair also offers businesses a chance to raise their profile locally and make connections that could be useful for future recruitment.
The West Devon Employment Fair has been held previously and is part of ongoing efforts to support the local economy and employment across the borough.
Further details about the event, including how to attend or exhibit, can be found on the Business Information Point website.
Businesses interested in securing a free stand are encouraged to register in advance using the West Devon Employment Fair stand form, as demand is expected to be high.
