Emergency services were called to Dunkeswell Aerodrome, near Honiton, just before 1pm on Saturday 28 February following concerns for the welfare of a male skydiver.
He was confirmed deceased at the scene, with his family informed, and police asking for their privacy to be respected.
A message from Mr McNeil’s family said: “Keep your chin up and when you look up at the sky, think of Chas.”
In a statement released today, Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Enquiries remain ongoing by police, British Skydiving and East Devon District Council Environmental Health and Safety Office.
“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr McNeil.”
