One of the biggest prizes in world rugby will be coming to Plymouth tomorrow evening when the Women’s Rugby World Cup Trophy visits Plymstock Oaks RFC.
The club will host the trophy on Monday 30 March as part of the nationwide Community Rugby Trophy Tour, which aims to inspire young players and celebrate the growth of the women’s game.

Organisers say the trophy will be on public display from 5pm to 6.45pm, with families, players and supporters invited to attend free of charge and take photographs with the silverware.
To mark the visit, the club is also holding a girls’ non-contact rugby session from 5.30pm to 6.30pm for children aged six to 14.
The session will be led by qualified coaches and is open to beginners as well as those with experience.
No membership is required, and organisers say the event is designed to give girls a welcoming introduction to the sport.
Participants will also have the chance to have their photo taken with the trophy.
The visit forms part of efforts to grow girls’ rugby locally and nationally, providing accessible opportunities for young people to get involved.
Head girls coach Conor Thomson said hosting the trophy was a special moment for the club and community.
“Hosting the Women’s Rugby World Cup Trophy is an incredible honour for our club and community,” he said. “We hope this moment inspires young girls across Plymouth.
“We want every girl to feel like rugby is an inclusive sport, helping develop their self-confidence, a genuine feeling of belonging, making friendships and discovering what girls are capable of. Most importantly, having fun.”
Club representatives say the event reflects their long-term commitment to increasing participation in girls’ rugby and creating clear pathways into the game.
Parents and guardians can register children for the free session in advance using an online sign-up form, although the trophy display itself is open to all members of the public.
The Community Rugby Trophy Tour is visiting clubs across the country ahead of future international competition, bringing one of the sport’s most recognisable prizes directly to grassroots communities.
