Run 4 Rosie a Huge Success

Last weekend saw over 200 runners aged between 2 and 78 years of age participate in the Run 4 Rosie sponsored run in Chagford, raising money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, and in memory of lifelong Chagfordian Rosie Webber.

A swathe of blue and orange Roy Castle Run 4 Rosie vests headed off at 9am as the event was opened by Rosie’s husband Rod Webber.

Throughout the next 24 hours, runners braved the elements to take on 5k, 10k, or 10 mile routes, many completing multiple laps.

The day’s hero was undoubtedly experienced ultra-runner Joseph Bradley, who astonishingly ran for the whole 24 hours – an unbelievable achievement for even the most seasoned runner.

Many other runners also challenging themselves to run further than they ever have before.

Almost 1,500km were accumulated in total, certainly helped by the youngest participants in the mini marathons clocking up over 100km between them!

The event has raised an incredible £11,500 so far, with sponsorship money still being collected.

The Webber family would like to wholeheartedly thank everybody involved; runners, helpers, donators and supporters who all came together to make this a truly wonderful weekend.
