Moorland running enthusiasts are being encouraged to sign up for a unique summer event that will take them ‘Through the Darkness’.
Described as an inclusive and flexible endurance event, runners will travel along a 12km multi-terrain course on Dartmoor, experiencing some of the great sights, sounds and smells familiar to all Moor runners.
The race will begin at 6pm on Saturday, July 1 and (forgive the pub) run through to 6am the following morning, with participants challenged to complete as many laps as possible in the 12-hour window.
Running into the evening and sampling what will hopefully be a beautiful Dartmoor sunset, the race then becomes a test of resilience, mental strength and endurance as darkness descends on the Moors. How far can you, or your team go?
More information can be found on www.throughthedarkness.co.ukand the event is being held to raise funds and awareness for Mountain Rescue England and Wales (MREW), an important charity comprising 49 rescue teams in England and Wales.
MREW is on call 24/7, 365 days a year, whatever the weather to save lives in the hills, moorland and mountains.
Through the Darkness is an endurance event in which participants will be pushing through the darkness and into the light, reflecting going through the darker times of mental health struggles, but knowing there will be lighter times ahead.
