Gulls add Tavistock to their pre-season schedule

Torquay United have added a trip to Tavistock AFC to their pre-season schedule.

The Gulls will visit Langsford Park on Wednesday, July 17 (KO 7.30pm), where they will face an exciting squad assembled by Stuart Henderson.

The Lambs of Tavi enjoyed a solid campaign in the Southern League Division One South last season, finishing 11th, and a well-known opponent for United’s Football Advisor Neil Warnock, who has regularly visited Langsford Park with different clubs in previous pre-season campaigns.

Elsewhere in the summer merry-go-round of football, former Torquay assistant manager and interim boss at the end of last season, Aaron Downes, has been appointed assistant manager to Michael Flynn at Cheltenham Town.

The Robins already have a strong Torquay connection, with former Plainmoor supremo Gary Johnson the new Director of Football at Cheltenham, the club he previously managed and where Downes finished his playing career.
