Dan Scarr departs for Wrexham
Defender Dan Scarr has departed Plymouth Argyle for Wrexham after three amazing years as a Pilgrim.
Scarr followed an unconventional route into the professional game, working in a gym while playing down the non-league pyramid as a teenager.
Eventually, his performances for Stourbridge piqued the attention of Birmingham City, the club he supported as a boy, and Scarr earned a dream move. While first-team opportunities were limited with the Blues, he gained more experience on loan with Wycombe and then signed for Walsall.
Argyle swooped for their man in the summer of 2021 and Scarr became an instant hit in the heart of the Home Park defence. Commanding in the air, fearless in the tackle and a goal threat from set-pieces, Scarr ticked the box of traditional centre-back.
He was a massive figure in Argyle’s promotion campaign in 2022/23 and his return to the team at the end of last season coincided with a late rally that saw the Greens steer away from relegation.
In the wake of his departure, Argyle played their final pre-season fixture at MK Dons on Saturday, Ryan Hardie scoring the only goal, as the Pilgrims now turn their attention to the opening Sky Bet Championship fixture away to Sheffield Wednesday.
