Unwanted visitor at Dainton Park GC
Brazen theft on Captain's Day
There was an unwanted visitor for the annual Captain’s Day celebration at Dainton Park Golf Club, resulting in an unusual theft.
Golfers habitually crowd around the putting green before and after a round, swapping score cards and either preparing for their 18 holes or marking score cards after four hours on the course.
At Dainton Park, there is a congregation area around the Pro Shop, putting green and the clubhouse, where many players will leave their clubs while having a drink at the bar or enjoying the fabulous sun terrace.
Sadly, that innocent bliss was shattered by the unwanted visitor on Captain’s Day, who brazenly walked into this congregation area and marched off with a trolley and golf clubs, which were only left unattended for 30 seconds.
The club has their ‘guest’ on CCTV and the matter has been passed on to the police, but they have distributed the image to other local clubs to be on the lookout for this particular individual.
On a happier note, it has been another superb summer on the fairways and greens at Dainton, with the Club Championships a major highlight in July.
Played over two rounds, the first of which in very challenging conditions, Nathan Brown emerged as the Men’s Gross Winner and Charlotte Husband won the Ladies Gross event. Men’s Nett Winner was Andy Mykhalevych and Julie Winsor won the Ladies Nett prize.
