The 50k ultra across Dartmoor another amazing success

The latest edition of the Dartmoor in a Day 50k Ultra once again delivered an epic day of running across wonderfully rugged and challenging terrain.

Hosted by Climb South West, this was the 14th edition of the brutal and beautiful event, with the welcome respite of blue skies and hazy sunshine.

Dartmoor in a Day begins in Okehampton and passes through Postbridge and concludes in Ivybridge.

There are so many joyous highlights along the route, including East Okement valley, Hangingstone Hill, the East Dart valley, Bellever Tor, West Dart stepping stones, Ryder’s Hill, a clapper bridge over the upper Avon river, the Dartmoor Volcano and stunning views along the Erme valley and out to sea.

As well as the 50k Ultra, there is a 30k option that begins in Postbridge and the route is almost entirely off-road, with participants supported all along the route by a highly experienced team of marshals and Dartmoor experts.

Race winners for the 50k Ultra were Steve Adams in 4:51 and Pip Riches 5:21, while the 30k challenge was won by Adam Bradshaw 3:05 and Liz Apps 3:26.

Five members of Okehampton Running Club completed the 50k, well done to Charlie Temperley, Ian and Euan Ripper, and Sarah and Molly Marvin.
