Pilgrims bruised by two heavy defeats on the road

Plymouth Argyle will be delighted with a return to home comforts this weekend following two bruising defeats on the road at Norwich City and Bristol City.

Two brilliant goals from Andre Gray, including a last-minute leveller curled into the top corner, had earned Argyle a 2-2 draw at home to Watford before they set off for the brace of away fixtures.

The trip from Plymouth to Norwich is notoriously difficult and an amazing effort from the Green Army, with over a thousand in attendance on a cold Tuesday night in November, but the football sadly failed to warm any Pilgrim hearts.

After conceding two early goals, Argyle grabbed a foothold with a strike from Mustapha Bundu but it all fell apart in a painful second period, as the Canaries raced away to a 6-1 victory.

Argyle manager Wayne Rooney was understandably disgruntled with the performance and his mood hardly improved with a 4-0 defeat at Bristol City last weekend.

Thankfully, a return to Home Park, where the Pilgrims have only lost once in the league, comes next with a visit from Oxford United on Saturday and then Swansea City on Tuesday, December 10.

Fans will be given a unique insight into how Rooney and his team deal with the rollercoaster ride of a Championship campaign after it was confirmed the Pilgrims will feature in a behind-the-scenes documentary following their season.

"It has to be at the right times and anything which we feel could affect players on a match day, the access won't be there," Rooney told BBC Radio Devon.

"I think it happens nowadays anyway at most football clubs - they have their own internal cameras almost everywhere, so I don't think it's any different for the players or a shock for the players to have cameras round.”
