Bovey Tracey secure fine SWPL victory at Okehampton Argyle
The South-West Peninsula League season is heading for a fascinating climax and, while Okehampton Argyle still have title aspirations, Moorland bragging rights belong to Bovey Tracey after a superb victory at Simmons Park.
Oke struck first on a soggy pitch, Jamal Bokhammas heading home from a Luke Mortimore corner, but the Bovey response was emphatic and a sparkling moment for teenage winger Jack Brimming.
Neil Last was the instigator of the equaliser, threading a delicious pass for the speedy Brimming to poke the ball past an onrushing Oke goalkeeper, and his first goal for the club was quickly followed by a second, clipping a lovely finish into the corner of the net.
Okehampton responded in determined fashion and levelled the scores at half-time with a fine finish from Mortimore, but Bovey would not be denied Moorland glory after the break.
With just 15 minutes left on the clock, skipper Dan Griffiths recycled the ball from a Bovey corner and the stretching Lewis Perring just about steered the ball over the line. Victory was sealed by a Last volley in the closing minutes and a great win for mid-table Bovey Tracey.
