Sad passing of Bovey CC women's team skipper

Bovey Tracey Cricket Club is in mourning after the tragic passing of women’s team captain Kelly Luscombe.

On Thursday, February 27, the club posted a heartfelt and emotional message for mum of one Kelly, who was also a teacher at Plymouth High School for Girls.

“It is with very heavy hearts, that we share the sad and shocking news with you that our beautiful Women’s XI Captain, Kelly Luscombe, passed away yesterday.

“Kelly was loved and admired by everyone who knew her. From the moment she arrived at our club she was like a breath of fresh air, inspiring and encouraging so many women and girls to play cricket - we will all miss her desperately.

“The flag is flying at half-mast at the club today as a mark of respect. Our thoughts are entirely with Kelly's family and friends at this time - they all are part of our cricket family. It is going to take time for us all to process our loss.

“Kelly's team of women and girls have arranged to get together at the club on Saturday, March 8 from 5pm to share and celebrate memories of Kelly. They have extended this invitation to anyone who would like to join them.

“We need to support each other as we come to terms with this difficult news. Please reach out to a member of the committee if you would like to talk - we can also signpost people to the bereavement support available. We will share more in celebration of Kelly's phenomenal contribution to the club and funeral arrangements once these are known.”

All of us at The Moorlander extend our love and prayers to Kelly’s family and friends and the whole community at Bovey Tracey CC. Rest in Peace Kelly.
