Matt Millar turns professional in South Africa
Young Devon golfer Matt Millar, 22, is taking his professional dream to South Africa and a place on the Betway Big Easy Tour.
The first goal for Matt is to earn a place on the Sunshine Tour, South Africa’s leading golf league and a tour that can lead to opportunities on the global stage, including the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour of America.
Millar first joined Dainton Park Golf Club near Ipplepen at the age of 12, going on to represent Devon, SW England and various Universities, as his handicap climbed to an incredible +5.
He will play 17 events in the summer and donations are pouring in to support Millar in his exciting journey. Click here to find out more on GoFundMe.
Millar said: “I started my golfing journey aged 12 at Dainton Park Golf Club. I've represented Devon at many levels and the South West of England Men’s team in 2024. After playing golf at Hartpury College, I spent three years at Colorado State University Pueblo, where I won multiple team championship titles and individual events.
“For my last year in the States, I transferred to Florida Gulf Coast University to compete at the highest level of college golf. For my final year in education, I moved back to Exeter in Devon and competed for their University squad whilst completing my Masters.
“As of May 2025, I have retired my amateur status and will be pursuing a career as a professional golfer.”
