Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon has donated £1,000 to Elburton Villa FC’s junior football team.

The cheque was presented at the club’s playing fields off Haye Road, Plymstock.

Elburton Villa FC, founded in 1982, has a senior side competing in the South West Peninsula League Premier Division West and youth teams ranging from Under 7s to Under 18s, with approximately 400 local children participating.

Jane Cartwright, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon, said: “As a local developer providing hundreds of new family homes in Plymstock, it felt more than appropriate to lend a helping hand to local institutions that contribute to making the area a great place to live. So, we are very happy to be supporting Elburton Villa’s young players with this donation, so they can keep doing what they do best and giving children and young people here a chance to play the sport they love and learn some great teamworking skills along the way.”

Kevin Treeby, Chairman of Elburton Villa FC, said: “We are grateful to Persimmon for their donation and honoured to have been chosen as Community Champions. Elburton Villa is very proud of what we do in the local community and these funds will help us give our players an outlet for their sporting energies, which is great for their emotional and physical wellbeing.”

Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon is the developer behind the Saltram Meadows site in Plymstock. The company also offers homes at Palmerston Heights in Derriford.

The developer donates approximately £700,000 annually to various causes and organisations across Britain through its Community Champions programme.

Recent recipients in the Plymouth area include St Luke’s Hospice, Plymouth Argyle FC’s Community Foundation, Plymouth Night Patrol, and Argyle Pride.
