If there was a silver lining to Plymouth Argyle’s relegation from the Sky Bet Championship, it has to be the return of the iconic Devon derby between the Pilgrims and Exeter City.
Following the release of next season’s fixtures, the Green and Red of Devon can now start planning for the two showpiece games in their campaigns. St James Park will host the first Devon derby on Saturday, October 25 before the return game at Home Park on Saturday, April 11.
Argyle begin their new era under Head Coach Tom Cleverley with a visit from Barnsley on Saturday, August 2, a repeat of the opening day fixture when the Pilgrims won promotion to the Championship in 2022/23. Finn Azaz scored the only goal in a 1-0 win for Argyle on that day.
The Greens then have a trip to Bolton Wanderers and a reunion with former boss Steven Schumacher. Lincoln (A), Leyton Orient (H), Blackpool (H) and Cardiff (A) completes the first month.
The Grecians will begin their season with a trip to promoted Doncaster Rovers before welcoming Blackpool for the opening home game. August is rounded off with Mansfield (H), Wycombe (A), Northampton (A) and Peterborough (H).
