On New Year’s Day, Devon teenager Innes FitzGerald recorded an incredible time of 15:27 at the Exmouth Parkrun, the fastest ever Parkrun by a British female.

FitzGerald, 19, beat the previous record by four seconds and this incredible achievement came just a week after she ran the Seaton Parkrun in 15:47, on Christmas Day, and the first time she had beaten the 16-minute barrier.

A former student at Colyton Grammar School and now studying at the University of Exeter, FitzGerald is a Team GB athlete and the current European U20 Cross Country champion.

The Parkrun distance is set at 5km and the global movement has 19 Parkruns in Devon, held on a Saturday morning at 9am. The Parkrun is open to all and Devon options include sites in Barnstaple, Woolacombe, Plymouth, Haldon Forest, Parke Estate near Bovey Tracey, Sharpham Estate near Totnes, Exmouth, Seaton, Torbay Velopark and more.
