A major investment in grassroots sport in Bovey Tracey was officially marked with an opening ceremony attended by Central Devon MP Sir Mel Stride, local club representatives and community supporters.
The project has delivered new all-weather cricket practice nets at Bovey Tracey Cricket Club and a new tennis court at Bovey Tracey Lawn Tennis Club, helping both organisations meet growing demand for participation.
Together, the clubs support more than 900 members and provide opportunities for hundreds of children, young people and adults to take part in sport each year.
Speaking at the event, Sir Mel Stride said: "Projects like this demonstrate what can be achieved when local communities come together with a shared vision.
“These facilities will benefit residents of all ages and help ensure that cricket, tennis and other sports continue to thrive in Bovey Tracey for many years to come."
Tina England said the scheme had been made possible through the efforts of volunteers, supporters, funders and local partners.
Chris Laycock said the new tennis court would create additional opportunities for participation, coaching and community sport.
