As the weekend approaches, much of the UK is set to experience a continuation of the ongoing heatwave, with Devon expected to see some of the highest temperatures in the southwest.
Saturday marks the peak of the heatwave, bringing widespread sunshine and soaring temperatures. Across Devon and neighbouring areas, temperatures are likely to climb into the high 20s Celsius, making it hotter than previous spells of warm weather this year.
Strong sunshine and high UV levels mean residents should take care when spending time outdoors.
Saturday night will remain warm and uncomfortable, with overnight temperatures in parts of the UK expected to stay above 20°C, potentially making it difficult to get a restful night’s sleep.
A shift in conditions is expected on Sunday, as cloud cover increases and there is a chance of a few light showers, particularly in eastern parts of the country.
Temperatures will still be warm but slightly lower than Saturday, with highs likely in the mid to high 20s locally.
Looking ahead to next week, cooler and fresher air is expected to move in from the west, bringing an increased chance of rain showers and thunderstorms. However, many areas in Devon should still see some warm spells and sunshine between showers.
